Favourite Instagram Travel

In an era where social media reigns supreme, I can’t deny that I am absolutely obsessed with Instagram. For me, it’s a platform where I follow people to inspire me and where creativity can be shared. I follow a heap of different travel accounts that have educated me on different parts of the world, as well as inspired me to go see places I may never have known about before.

There are so many amazing personalities and photographers out there who use Instagram as their tool for sharing their content. Coming from a marketing background for a Catering Supplies company I do spend quite a bit of time posting on social media for work and creating advertisements. I like seeing the business and analytical side of things, as well as the posts that I see from people. The platform itself just interests me as a whole!

So, while I was off sick from work I did what I always do and went searching through the app for inspiration. With this I got the bright idea to share the love with a few accounts that I really, really love on my Instagram stories. Without further adieu, here are some of my favourite accounts on Instagram and why:

Good morning! Today I’m starting my Olympus ‘Top Posts and Settings 2017’ series and will run it all week. Two posts a day, 14 posts. Please ask any photography questions and I’ll do my best to answer everyone. This is number 1: Horse Head Rock at sunrise. _________________________________ Gear and Settings: ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ 🔹 @olympus_au E-M1 Mark II 🔹 M. Zuiko 7-14 mm PRO lens 🔹 Olympus wired remote 🔹 @gitzoinspires Tripod 🔹 @leefilters graduated 0.9 ND 🔹 ISO LOW (64) 🔹 F 11 🔹 8 seconds __________________________________ 📝 I was incredibly lucky to see such amazing light at this popular photography location and I nearly didn’t know what to do with it! My composition was pretty straightforward; I split my horizon in half and used the rocks and water as a leading line to the main rock formation. Since the location is quite dark and the sky was quite bright I opted to use a graduated neutral density filter to help make my exposure more even. I needed a tripod as my exposure time was slow and I used the stock standard landscape photography settings of my lowest ISO and f11 for good depth of field. __________________________________ #olympusinspired 📸

Lauren is an Australian photographer who takes photographs from around the world. I find her captions to be really great – as she often explains how she got a photograph, where it was taken, etc. Even in her stories she always keeps my interest and the quality of her pictures really speak for themselves!

Mollie Bylett @wheresmollie

Mollie from WhereIsMollie has a group called the Wheres Mollie Global Travellers on Facebook where she brings together people from all over to go on adventures. Honestly, I’m hoping that 2018 is the year that I get to join on one of the adventures to meet like minded travellers & getting out of my comfort zone. She exudes complete and utter positivity and I just love it!

Photo by @FransLanting The holidays are a time for togetherness and in that spirit I’m sharing this image of an emperor penguin family gathered around their chick. Right now it’s early summer in Antarctica and that means multitudes of young emperor penguin chicks are being nurtured on sea ice around the margins of the frozen continent. Their parents alternate between shuttling in food from open water and guarding their adorable offspring. It is an epic example of parental commitment under extreme conditions. Follow me @FransLanting and @ChristineEckstrom for more stories about heroism in the natural world. @thephotosociety @natgeotravel @natgeocreative #Penguin #EmperorPenguin #Antarctica #Nature #Family #Parent #Nurture #Love #Togetherness #Heroes

Frans Lanting is a dutch photographer who shoots for National Geographic. His work is absolutely captivating and his captions always tell a story of his expeditions. I have to admit, a reason why I enjoy his photography so much possibly comes down to the high number of animals that he shoots – but his work is amazing none the less! He would inspire you to go to places you never even dreamed of.

11 of 30 Most Epic Adventures Before 30🙌: Komodo Island, Indonesia! That's right, there's more than just Bali, Lombok, and the Gilis in Indo, and this place is actually one of the 7 Wonders of Nature because it has the only island in the world that's native to Komodo Dragons! 🐉🏝⛰ . To get there you first stop at this epic hike called Padar Island where you can see 3 beaches each with different colored sand from the top! My hair is wet in the pic bc on the way there I saw Manta Rays, and the man driving the boat told me to jump in and go see them, so I did! It was one of the most incredible, slightly terrifying experiences of my life! Same thing goes for taking a selfie with a Komodo Dragon…all of that on my stories later! 😜💖🌏 . Oh! And I've been featured on Forbes again with my recommendations for the top affordable adventures for 2018, and this is one of them! Link to the article will also be on my Stories! . #30before30 #bucketlist #komodoisland #padarisland #mylifesatravelmovie #alyssaramostravels #travelblogger #solotravel #hike #indonesia #komododragon #forbes #forbeswomen #hike #tlpicks #instagood #natgeotravel #travelchannel

Alyssa is a solo female traveller taking Instagram by storm with her GoPro and selfie stick! I love the way she makes no secret of the length she goes to, to get that perfect Instagram picture with no one else around. She is my Instagram photography goals & I love seeing where she is going and where she has been.

With over two million followers I don’t think it’s too hard to see what I love about this account. What I think I love most is the fact that they take all their own pictures. There is something about creating your own content (and not paying a photographer) that I really love. I just get so much travel envy and inspiration from this page as he goes to all the note worthy areas around the world.

Irish Accounts:

Ciara McNally @mysuitcasediaries

Ciara is a primary school teacher and Irish Travel Blogger who I absolutely love following in Instagram. Her account which goes between city breaks and fabulous towns in Ireland is right up my street as it is exactly what I aim for myself, so I constantly get inspiration off her account!

Danielle @bootsnotroots

This one is kind of cheating because she technically doesn’t live in Ireland anymore – but she did when I started following! Danielle shares amazing pictures of her travel that are bound to give you wanderlust. Honestly, when she was in Ireland she made me fall in love with this country all over again with her amazing images.

I first came across Johnny at the Irish Blogger Conference and his story just blew me away. Since then I have actively followed both his blog and his social media channels. He is the first Irish person to visit every country in the world (197/197!) and reading about his final few hurdles was so interesting. He is an inspiration in every single way!

Anouska Proetta Brandon @anouskapb

I feel like I keep cheating in this category! Technically Anouskas’ account isn’t solely a travel account but she travels quite a bit and her content is just on point (especially when she goes away with @iamgalla!). Her content is fresh, different and a lot more ‘artistic’ than the other travel focused accounts I follow which I like. She also has a cute as f*ck cat so that’s me pretty much won over right there.

And last but not least! (because I can’t help be a little cheeky 😉)

Emily Culhane @emziiepop

I think I love my Instagram more than I love this blog. It’s a place for me to be creative on a whim and give love to those who I enjoy as well. As time goes on, I get more and more interactive on the platform and try and let people know when I love their content because I love when people tell me they love mine! My posts are a mix of Ireland and my travels and I find it really pushes me to get out there at the weekend and push the boundaries on the pictures I can get. I used to not take pictures at all really but now with my Instagram I have an amazing gallery full of pictures from amazing places I have visited!

So, these are some of my all time favourite Instagram accounts. I love them for a number of different reasons but mostly because of their amazing content and their constant positivity. Now, I don’t fully trust everything I see on Instagram, but as a platform to showcase content and creativity I think it’s amazing. What Instagram accounts do you enjoy the most? Is it a social media platform you use regularly?
