I start getting into the Christmas spirit pretty much the second Halloween is over. With a trip to Christmas markets in a European city on the horizon. I’m heading away in the first week of December I am really getting into the Christmas mood! Christmas markets have such a magical aura about them. The lights, the smells, everyone is just in such good form! It really is one of the best times of year and it really brings everyone together.
I’m always lusting to go abroad for Christmas markets when in reality there are some great markets right where I call home! Here are three of the best Christmas markets in Ireland that you can visit:
Galway Christmas Market
The Christmas markets in Galway are one of the longest running in Ireland, coming into their 8th year! The markets span the centre of the city from Eyre Square down to Spanish Arch and boasts over FIFTY stalls in total!
As well as the market stalls there are several funfair rides from you to choose from to keep you entertained as well! And if shopping and fun fair rides aren’t your thing then you’re still in luck. Galway is one of the best cities in Ireland for nightlife (if not the best). You will be spoiled for choice when walking down Shop Street of pubs with live music and the best banter.
When? The Galway Continental Christmas Market is to make a return from the 21st of November until the 22nd of December 2017. For more details check here.
Cork Glow Festival
The Christmas Markets in Cork is a wonder of lights in the city that are sure to awaken the Christmas spirit within you! This free festive installation nestled in the centre of Cork city in Bishop Lucey Park will be sure to brighten up your Christmas as it carries you over the city in their Ferris wheel. Glow hosts delicious artisan food, vintage carousel rides, choral performances, mulled wine and entertainment galore.

Belfast Christmas Markets
If you’re looking for an adventure further afield without leaving the country then a trip to Belfast for their Christmas markets is perfect for you. Located in Belfast City Hall this market is a haven for foodies – with themed stalls from all over Europe!
If you have a little one looking to get their letter to Santa in time for Christmas take note! You can post the letter in his post box (in the grounds of the Belfast Christmas Market) by 18th December and you’ll receive a letter back from him!
